Keyword Xray Day 9 is finally here! (Wow, I can’t believe this post has been sitting in my drafts for 2 weeks!)
Yes, I promised there wouldn’t be a huge lapse between blog posts on Xray, but what can I say? I got swamped with other things, then a bit lazy. I tend to undertake too many things at once, and not finish anything. (A deadly habit I hope to break soon). A delay in 5 days, became 2 weeks, now becoming more than a month. Talk about a good way to kill off readership! Just start a cool case study, stop it less than half way through, and watch your traffic and feed count come crashing to a halt. Learn from me, don’t do it!
So I kept putting off this case study, a little discouraged since I had already let it get so far behind. But today I got an email from Amir of Xtreme Conversions, which encouraged me to get back to work on this. I had emailed Amir with a support question after buying Xtreme Conversions the other day (which is awesome I might add, perhaps better than Xray). Come to find out, he’d been keeping up with my Xray postings and was wondering why I ever stopped. So in light of a good excuse, I thought it’d be time to finally dust this thing off and try to get my audience back.
Anyway, I AM still working on Xray, it’s slowly coming along. Actually, there are a lot of disgruntled Xray customers at the moment (myself included), but I’ll save that story for another post.
Honestly, Day 9 didn’t have much new material for me. Perhaps for people who’ve never signed up for a blog before, or who’ve never used an HTML editor, there was something to be gained. But since I got my start on the Internet creating websites when I was 16 (12 years ago), I was more of a spectator with today’s material.
Basically, day 9 consisted of 3 videos where Ryan walked us through getting set up with Blogger, setting up a hosting account, and applying for our chosen affiliate program. Pretty basic stuff. While I agree Blogger is a good choice for people just starting out who need a free presence on the web and is relatively easy to set up, my choice of course is Wordpress (hence this platform of choice on this blog).
But the blogs Ryan had us setting up really weren’t for blogging per se, but for using as a free landing page to host the Keyword Xray tracking codes on. Of course there needs to be some content on the blog to get a good quality score in the eyes of Google when promoting on Adwords, so a few posts pre-selling whatever product we’re promoting doesn’t hurt any. Plus, you could always use a free Blogger blog to get approved with Google AdSense.
As Ryan mentioned in the training and some already know, Google owns Blogger. Now Google’s motto might be “Don’t Be Evil”, but I have a theory that Blogger blogs might get a little bit of favoritism in the SERPs and with quality scores. I could be wrong, but the larger a company gets, usually the more “narcissistic” they become and self-promotion is never a conflict of interest. Just a theory though…
For any Xray Dominator’s reading this who want to know how to auto create and post to Blogger blogs, I suggest you check out Easy Blogger Creator. (powerful stuff if you want to make money on autopilot with AdSense). Combine this tool with the techniques taught in the upcoming Project Black Mask, and you have a deadly, yet profitable marriage in the world of black hat marketing.
I’ve decided to not use a Blogger blog for my Kicker Solo-Baric promotion and instead purchased a new domain and hosted it with my current provider, 1and1 Web Hosting. A lot of marketers push GoDaddy for purchasing domains. I used to use GoDaddy, but dropped them sometime last year. I found their interface clunky and hard to navigate in, and I didn’t like all the hard selling of “extras” they liked to push on their victims.
I prefer 1and1, as they have a very clean management interface, it’s easy to setup new domains, redirects, sub domains, and email addresses, plus they have some cool marketing tools. Oh, and free private registration, which is not free at GoDaddy. The main thing though that I like, is that once you purchase a hosting account, “.com” domains are only $5.99 / year. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dot com that cheap, not even at GoDaddy.
My only complaint with 1and1 might be speed, which is odd because they have a massive data center with some of the most high-tech equipment available. Maybe it’s just this blog and all the plugins that cause the page to have slow load times. Anyone experience coffee break delays loading my blog?
I should probably do a complete review one of these days since I do like 1and1, plus they have a pretty lucrative affiliate program. If you’ve never purchased hosting or a domain name before, I suggest you read my very first blog post: “how to choose a domain name.” Ryan of course taught the “Xray Method” for choosing a web host and creating domain names, which was quite good and I picked up a few research strategies that I hadn’t know before. (sorry, that’ll stay secret)
So there’s the long delayed Day 9 post. Finally! As many of you fellow Xray Dominator’s already know, our 27 days of training are technically over. Let’s not discuss getting dropped like a bastard step-child on Day 27. (not even a goodbye high-five!).
But visit and comment often, keep me encouraged, and I’ll do my best to make time and continue posting my progress (good and bad) with Keyword Xray Domination.

Hey Rian,
I agree with Amir, this series must go on.
Even though it may seem a bit late now, I would say all the opposite since what you learn and apply is extremely valid for affiliate marketers any day of the week.
Keep it up.

Thanks Alex,
I do have readers out there after all…, haha. j/k
I’ll do my best to keep this thing alive. The end of July, early August will be tricky because that’s when I plan to be outta here.
Back to my Google playing favorites theory, anything to add? Have you seen preference given in the SERPs either with Google owned sites, or their deep pocked friends? Oh, BTW, Google recently bought Feed Burner. They keep getting bigger and bigger…
